What would happen if there were no parental control apps in the market? This is the digital generation. Even a five-year old will know how to operate an iPad with ease and toddlers are picking quickly too. You have no control and you should not stifle a child’s progress, but what about exposing your child to the dangers on the Internet.
Without the parental control apps you will not be able to track of your child’s online activity. You will not be able to keep a track of who they are interacting with. They could interact with any strangers and risk giving out any sensitive information about themselves or their families.
You will not be able to protect your child from viewing harmful and mature content. They could easily access apps that are inappropriate for their age even if it made you uncomfortable. You could never know about what your child is doing online. You will be unable to stop them from viewing the content you disapproved of.
Repeatedly exposing your child to pornographic content can radically shape his/her sexual attitudes and beliefs. It can lead to encouraging casual sex with friends, less importance to love and affection and even mimicking behaviours seen in pornography.
When teenagers engage in risky behaviours such as sending or receiving nude or partially nude photos or videos, things can go wrong. Your child could also be a victim of cyber bullying where kids treat each other in a mean way online. All this could happen without your knowing.
The Internet is an open gateway for predators who are able to foster a relationship of dependence with a teenager, capitalize on a teenager’s desire to be liked, desire for romance, etc. They often lure a teenager with flattery, and investing time. Later, they turn into dangerous offline relationships or kidnapping in extreme cases. Sometimes Internet-connected games also enable kids to interact with strangers which could mean harm to your children.
Think about all the dangers you could expose your child to when you do not have parental control apps at your disposal.
